Fishburne Military School’s Varsity Basketball team played public school East Rockingham High School on Tuesday, 19 Jan 2021. East Rockingham has several Division 1 basketball players including the 66th ranked junior in the nation. The Caissons played tough for three quarters and ran out of gas down the stretch to fall 75-55.

Senator Tim Kaine, Mayor Bobby Henderson and other joined the FMS Corps of Cadets, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Trustees in honoring our nation’s men and women in uniform during the school’s annual Veterans Day ceremony.

The ceremony also recognized the 100th anniversary of Professor James Fishburne’s passing.

Deployed Teacher Honors Fishburne Military School Corps with Gift

One of Fishburne Military School’s most loved instructors, Chief Warrant Officer Phillip Lacey, is currently on deployment overseas with his unit from the Virginia Army National Guard.

Chief Lacey dedicated a US Flag (flown during a combat operation) to the Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets. The gift was presented to the entire Corps in a special formation.

Fishburne Again Named to Top Schools List

Fishburne Military School is proud to announce that they have been named to Virginia Living Magazine’s list of Top Schools & Colleges 2020. This list names approximately 160 programs across the state which are “leading the way in innovation”.

There are approximately 620 high schools (made up of 383 public schools and 237 private schools) and 81 colleges in the state of Virginia. Fishburne MIlitary School has cosistently made this list of the top programs since 2013.

Fishburne Military School Resumes In-Person Classes

Fishburne Military School classes for the 2020-2021 school year will begin in mid-August. In a letter to its Cadets, parents, and prospective families, the all-male, military, boarding school outlined its plans for the resumption of in-person classes and athletics.

The school will implement a system of traditional classroom instruction which will include an online, component. While some assignments and instruction will be offered to Cadets online, Fishburne Cadets will attend in-person classes every day.

Alexandria, VA — The Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets was honored on Monday evening during the annual Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) conference for their performance in two competitions held at the end of 2019.

The Caissons broght home First Place in the Fitness competition and earned a Third Place finish in the AMCSUS Academics competition.

Old Town Alexandria, VA ­– Fishburne Military School, Virginia’s oldest and smallest military school, earned top honors Monday in Virginia’s oldest and largest George Washington Birthday Celebration.

Fishburne Wrestling Brings Home VIC Championship

The Fishburne Military School Wrestling team, fresh off their regular season Championship, headed to Roanoke in a quest to bring home the school’s first VIC Championship in 37 years. The Caissons would not be denied.

When the dust cleared Fishburne finished with 171.0 points. Roanke Catholic was next with 103.0 point. VES was 3rd with 90 points, Covenant and Hargrave tied with 82 points and Blue ridge had 16 points.

Fishburne Military School Names Cadet of the Month for September 2019

Waynesboro, VA – In recognition of his outstanding academic and military performance, Cadet Michael Manley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Manley, has been named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet of the Month for September 2019.

Manley, an eighth-grader from Ponte Verda Beach, Florida, is in his second year at Fishburne Military School. Manley was officially recognized as Cadet of the Month during a formation of the entire Corps of Cadets last Wednesday.

Troop 1879 Announces New Eagle Scout

Fishburne Military School’s BSA Troop 1879 announced that Cadet Austin Haug (Senior; Culpeper, VA) has been named as the Troop’s latest member to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

Haug, a three-year Cadet, is a member of the Caissons Soccer and Cross Country teams and hopes to attend the Virginia Military Institute next Fall.

He hopes to encourage and help younger Cadets at Fishburne Military School to get involved in Scouting during his Senior year.

Coach Terry Waters’ annual Wrestling Camp once again drew top names from the collegiate and olympic wrestling worlds to Waynesboro in order to pass along their expertise and, hopefully, inspire the next generation of great student-athletes.

On Monday alone, VA Tech Head Coach Tony Robie, VA Tech National Champ Mekhi Lewis, and VA NCAA Runner Up, Jack Mueller all held court and provided hands-on instruction for young wrestlers in grades 7-12.
